Jim Rohn Celebration With Tony Robbins, Les Brown

This was a private event held on Saturday, February 6th to celebrate the life of Jim Rohn, who passed away in late 2009.

I wanted to make plans to go to this event when it was first announced without a definitive date. Then I waited and waited. After attending the event it is my belief that putting together an all star cast like this took some time. To put on an event for a man with so many passionate fans must take a tremendous amount of effort and sacrifice on the part of others.

It was worth it….

After it was over I spoke to several people in the crowd and everyone said the same thing, “I am glad I came and it was worth every second.”

Hoping the event would be this spectacular I brought my mini HD camera to document the whole thing so I could share it with others. Cameras were allowed outside but not inside so I took five pages of notes in an attempt to share the moment with you and paint a vivid picture of the overall experience.

I was able to get a few people to share some of their favorite Jim Rohn quotes. Take a look at the video and read below as I attempt to put into words the overall feeling of this February night in Anaheim.

Here is what some of the speakers had to say.

“When I die the back of my tombstone should say, Made By Jim Rohn.”  Darren Hardy-Publisher of Success magazine

Jim’s greatest attribute was empathy.  We went to a restaurant once and the waitress had the weight of the world on her shoulders and it was obvious.  Jim paid the check and left a 500% tip and we walked out before she knew.  Jim hid around the corner to see her reaction.  When the waitress picked up the check she smiled and so did Jim.”  Harold Dyck-Longtime friend

Jim had no peer.  I’ve been all over the world and there is no place I would rather be right now than here.”  Dennis Waitley-Author of Seeds of Greatness

Jim was a great American and that means something.  There is no other country in the world that has the word [American] after it.  There is no Russian Dream or German Dream.  Jim was a learning machine.”  Brian Tracy-International speaker and author of Physchology of Achievement

“My life will forever be impacted not only by the teachings, but by the life, of Mr. Rohn.”  Chris Widener-Author of The Angel Inside and Co-author of Twelve Pillars

“The world and all of us tonight will forever be changed for the better because of this man.”  Kyle Wilson-Founder of Your Success Store

“When Jim spoke he made me feel like a pencil in the hand of God writing a new life for myself.”  Les Brown-International Speaker and author of Live Your Dreams

“Jim was the anecdote to shallow.  Every day when I touch people…Jim is touching them too.”  Tony Robbins-International Speaker and author of Awaken The Giant Within

There were a few messages that seemed to summarize the entire evening.

  • Every speaker said their life was dramatically touched by Mr. Rohn
  • Jim was the initial spark for many of the speakers
  • Jim was someone that genuinely cared about others and he dedicated his life to helping others

Here are some pictures from the event.

A few things I noticed about the speakers.

  • They spoke clearly and did a great job of making their point
  • They smiled frequently even as they spoke
  • They told stories and related to the audience
  • Most of them were in physically good condition.  As I met them afterwards I shook hands and patted some of them on the shoulder and found them to be physically solid

In the spirit of Mr. Rohn please share your favorite inspirational quote below regardless of who said it.

Great job Kenny of catching the spirit of Jim Rohn.

Certainly wish I could have attended, wow! Can anyone imagine such a send off… In honor of Mr. Jim Rohn
“Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.” >> “When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.”
-Jim Rohn
Jim Rohn’s influence on Tony Robbins: (I noticed the similarities while I was in my car, drive time university.)
Honesty creates Freedom, be real with yourself and tell the truth, no matter what, especially if something isn’t at the level you want. To live life at the peak, tell yourself the truth! Eliminate rationalization.

I was turned onto Mr. Rohn via one of my mentors Brian Carruthers, the biggest Jim Rohn fanatic and still, more so now today shares and carries on Mr. Rohn psychologies and philosophies more than ever. I must say thanks to them both for educating me along my journey which is just now beginning. My vision and felt purpose is sooo much stronger today because of these special gentlemen and scholars whom have had the courage to swim against the current, persistently and consistently.

Make it a great day,
Enjoy Life & Give Thanks to God,

Hey Ken,
Thanks for the reminder about Jim Rohn. I still have a cassette program from the early 80’s of Jim. My favorite quote is:
“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
Jim Rohn, 1930-2009, Author and Speaker
